Vista Protection 2014 Removal Guide

Well recently, my computer obtained a rogue virus called Vista Protection 2014 which completely disabled almost everything on my user account. It keeps giving me fake security alerts and forces me to register its full version. I am not quite sure how to get rid of this virus because my task manager doesn’t open up at all. I cannot open anything that can get rid of this fake antivirus on my account now because it instantly gets shut down and a popup says “this file is infected”, or something similar keeps blocking me. I have already installed Norton, how did the virus come to my computer? Is there any way I can remove it from my system completely? I don’t want to reformat the computer because I have lots of photos and music inside. Please help!!!
