There have been many reports in the news over the last few months describing a “malware” or “ransomware” affecting Mac OS X users that attempts to block their web browser and trick them into paying $500 by posing as an FBI notice. If you happen to see this FBI pop-up on your iPhone or iPad, don’t be scared or pay the fine to unlock your device because this notice is not from any law enforcement agencies as it mentioned like FBI, Australian Federal Police, Metropolitan Police or U.S. Department of Justice. Instead, it is a malware designed by cyber criminals to trick innocent users and steal their money. If your phone is infected with the FBI virus, it will display a fake FBI notice taking over your web browser including Safari, Chrome or Firefox immediately. It pretends to be the FBI and tells the victim the browser has been blocked because they have been viewing or distributing prohibited Pornographic content even though the victims have never done that before. And to get Internet access back and avoid other legal consequences, they are obligated to pay a release fee of $500 through Moneypak which is a prepaid card that can be purchased at a store like Kmart, CVS, Walmart, or Walgreens or Paypal. The virus
usually redirects you to a fake website domain like fbi.gov. and displays your IP address and city to make itself seem to be real. In fact, this is just a trick created by the hackers. The virus utilizes JavaScript to hijack user’s internet browsers and it prevents users from accessing Internet on their iPhone or iPad. You should ignore any message on this fake FBI notice and immediately clean up your device.
“Hi, I have been warned with a $500 fine because of a thing such as pornography and said that it would erase all my apple ID photos and such, is this a real thing or a scam?”
Hi, I have been warned with an FBI notice thing where it says I am a victim of pornography etc? It asked me to pay 500 or else my apple ID, photos, videos etc will be deleted if not paid. And will be jailed for 5-7 years. Is this a big scam or is it real? I am really scared. I researched online that they are scams but i don’t know if it is. Any help with this?
Apple users should do research before paying the huge fine. The FBI malware will only take your money but not resolve anything even if a fine is paid. Be aware that real FBI will never ask you to pay a fine by the means of locking your mobile device. Don’t rush to pay for the fine and think logically, if the FBI were watching your internet activity, would they show you a notice telling you and giving you the opportunity to destroy the evidence? If you were really doing something illegal and the FBI found out, the first thing it will happen is that FBI would come knocking on your door with a search warrant without warning you. Usually this ransomware comes into a system by opening a spam email, clicking malicious pop-up ads or visiting unsafe website. One should know that 500$ penalty doesn’t exist at all and all the bad consequences like deleting your iPhone data, sending info to your contacts or going jail will not happen. To sum up, Once FBI Notice pops up on your browser, you had better get rid of it manually as quickly as possible.
We used to think that Apple iOS gadgets were pretty immune to viruses and malware. Sadly, over the past year hackers have turned their attention to our mobile gear. Usually, the installation of FBI Virus can be completed in a short time and then it pops up immediately to lock your iPhone or iPad without signs if you visit a phishing site, open a junk e-mail attachment, click on an unknown link or download an application from an unsafe source, especially after you jailbreak your device.
It will take control of your mobile phone rapidly once it is downloaded.
It will pretend itself as a legit warning and then ask for a ransom.
It will not allow you to change your phone settings or open Apple Store to download antivirus program.
It will not let you close Safari or Chrome except for inputting the demand Greendot Moneypak code.

FBI virus acts like a hijacker when it is running on Apple system that can block user’s Internet access and prevent them from going online properly. Unfortunately no apps can delete this malware so far and the virus won’t go away unless you have removed all its components step by step. Even in some cases it may disappear itself for a while to let you get Internet access back, however your device is still unsafe.
