For some reasons, my web browser is fully taken over by Search.bytefence.com hijacker. It will not allow me to conduct a search on Google or any other engines. I use Firefox and now every time I go online, there are tons of ads interrupting my online activities. I ran a quick scan, then a full scan with Malwarebytes, and it identified 2 items, got rid of them (I think). Problem is still not fixed. I tried to change my browser settings but it didn’t help at all. It is very frustrating. Any suggestions?

When it gets installed, it stops users from going online properly. You will be constantly redirected to Web sites that you had no intention of visiting. Whenever you surf online, you will end up having tons of pop-up ads or misleading error messages on your screen. It takes much longer than before to load up a web page. Besides, the hijacker can corrupt any browsers you have installed including IE, Firefox and Chrome. As a result, your browser may keep freezing and show you “Not responding” error. Although Search.bytefence.com seems like a legitimate and trustworthy search engine, it won’t really offer reliable search results for its users. The hijacker is created purposely for marketing, commercial and publicity purposes only.

If you click to leave, the initial warning which keeps asking you to pay for the fine will appear again, and the process starts again. Your Internet access will be totally blocked because of this javascript fine warning page. It is a little bit different from the previous Ransomware which disguises itself as Flash Player app for Android and blocks everything on the phone. This one is just used to block one’s Internet access. Nevertheless, both types of Ransomware are sharing the same goal, which is to scare innocent users and extort their money.
