I have a problem about download files. When i try to download anything, updates, I am getting the error “This Program contained a Virus and was deleted” in IE9 Download Manager or “This file contained a virus and was deleted” in any download files such as PDF, excel, word etc. I am not able to download any EXE files in IE as well. Download anything and it says it contained a virus and was deleted. Is it a nasty virus? How do I fix this issue easily? I don’t know why i got this nasty thing, when i opened some websites but it won’t let me go on the webpage, it keeps warning with the message: explorer excel file contains a virus and was deleted. I can’t rip it off, it is serious on the MS office, how can i get rid of this from my computer?
“This Program contained a virus and was deleted” is an alert showing on Internet Explorer browser when a user tried to download files or programs. It is related to a malicious virus that can function in most versions of Windows, including Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. This virus blocks users to download any files or programs from the Internet. As soon as the files/programs are downloaded, they will be deleted at once at the same time. And users will get a prompt if they are using Internet Explorer browser which says ‘ This Program contained a virus and was deleted‘. But using other browsers like Firefox, Google Chrome will not give you any alerts, it just shows nothing and prevents you from opening the programs or files you downloaded.
Although this issue happened on target computers a long time ago, it still made users frustrated. Someone may think it must be something wrong with Firewall or Antivirus program but it is not. Actually this alert is caused by a Trojan which can contact a remote server and download other malware including rogue programs. It brings an annoyance to all the PC users. The vast majority of users complain that system goes slow and they may even experience total crashes in Windows after they get this alert. A trojan can access the computer directly by taking advantage of weakness in Internet browser and security. It allows cyber criminals to track your computer and steal your personal information.
If you get “This Program contained a virus and was deleted” error message showing on IE8, IE9 even for IE10 while you are downloading programs, that means your computer must be infected with other viruses like Trojan Horse Generic29.AJGE or FBI Moneypak Virus etc. With those viruses inside your computer, it definitely ruins the whole system. This problem is hard to be fixed because you are not allowed to download any programs that help to scan your computer. Even by running a security scan from the antivirus program you installed before will not do anything because it always detects nothing and says your computer is clean. Things are not working fine when you download programs or files. Every time you try to click “run”, “save” and “save as” option while downloading things, you will find none of these options work. All you can get is the error message “This Program contained a virus and was deleted.” If you have spent several hours in fixing this problem, please read more on this article which helps to remove this error permanently.
Infected Symptom: Whatever you try to download files or programs in the computer via Internet Explorer, it shows that it contained a virus and was deleted automatically, even though you absolutely sure that what you download will not contain a virus.
It blocks you from accessing any files or programs you download from the Internet.
It will slow down your PC work and make it operate weirdly.
It can connect to a remote IRC server and forward the data to cybercriminals without a computer user’s awareness.
It can modify your browser code and make victims redirected when they are browsing.
It will make you get a sea of unwanted pop up ads that are impossible to stop.
“This Program contained a virus and was deleted” is linked to Trojan horse which is able to sneak into your computer without any sign and notification. Any reputable antivirus software will not help to detect its presence. If your computer is compromised, you will get the same problem like the following users:
My computer was infected with a malware before and it’s gone now. However, while downloading a file or program in internet explorer, it still says that the program/file contains a virus and will be deleted.Downloading the same file in Chrome or Firefox works fine. Why?
I have most likely Zero Access Rootkit, as advised previously, I have removed 4 Trojan viruses using windows defender offline and anti malware program. I have now got windows firewall working. I am still receiving error when downloading “file contained a virus and was deleted”.
Both Firefox and IE9 are giving me this issue when I try to download a file. The file downloads all the way and then just gets eradicated. Not in the recycle bin, not in the virus vault. Chrome does not have this problem, downloads are saving normally.
