I use Firefox and every time I open a new tab the Search.zebrouss.com page appears in the new tab and I want to get rid of it! I can’t find it in Control Panel, neither in Firefox –> Add-ons –> Extensions or Plugins. I downloaded Malwarebytes and it detected a few PUPs, but after removal the page was still in Firefox! How can I completely get rid of this bogus search engine?
I use Windows 7 by the way. Thanks for any assistance!
Search.zebrouss.com is considered to be browser hijackers that changes your Internet browser default search engine, homepage, new tab and displays deceptive ads. It can hijack all major browsers including Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox. Browser hijacker aims to interfere with the proper operation of the Internet browser itself and it is designed for generating revenue from deceptive ads or sponsored Internet search results presented within the websites they promote. Despite the page looks like a normal search engine, it has no ability to show you any reliable search results. Instead, it will display many erroneous results with little or no relevance to the original search terms because it always puts sponsored links on the top of search results to trick users into clicking on them. People who mistakenly clicked on those sponsored links only find them download many other potentially unwanted programs and get system infected further. Besides, this hijacker is known to track users’ Internet surfing habits by recording various personal information (IP addresses, web sites visited, search terms entered, etc.), therefore you should remove it as quickly as you can.

Hi there. Every time I use Firefox, it opens up another “search engine” type site rather than my default search provider Google. The URL is Search.bitcro.com and I believe it must be some kind of browser hijacker threat. I downloaded Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes to scan my system but none of them worked. They showed my computer was clean but I knew it wasn’t. I don’t know what to do now. Is there any other way to get rid of constant redirection to this website? I just want Google back. How do I fix the issue?
Search.bitcro.com has recently been added to “browser hijacker” category that usually displays a spam search engine on its site to trick innocent users. Browser hijacker is a potentially unwanted program, usually a web browser add-on or plugin, which causes modifications in web browser’s settings. Therefore, when this hijacker gets installed on your machine, it is able to change your default homepage, start page and new tab page, alter your search results by adding particular sponsored websites to your search results, redirect you to unknown pages while you are surfing on the Internet or visiting specific websites. Generally speaking, this application can sneak into computer system from freeware, shareware or ad-supported programs. Nowadays there are many different download managers, video streaming programs, video recording programs and similar free programs that have been bundled with suspicious browser add-ons or toolbars. As soon as you download any of them, the browser hijacker will be installed together without asking any permission. The developers of this browser hijacker just want to earn money from visitor traffic, so you will be redirected to Search.bitcro.com again and again and the worse is that you are not allowed to go back to previous page or get your favorite homepage back. There is no guarantee that this site is legitimate and harmless, you’d better get rid of it from your PC quickly.
